- REIKI HEALING SESSION -

Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word "Reiki" is derived from two Japanese words:

  • "Rei" meaning "universal" or "spiritual wisdom"

  • "Ki" meaning "life energy" (also known as chi, qi, or prana in other traditions)

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is based on the belief that a universal life energy flows through all living things. Practitioners believe that when this energy is strong and flowing freely, we experience health and well-being. When the energy is weak or blocked, it can lead to physical or emotional imbalance.

How Does Reiki Work?

During a Reiki session:

  1. The practitioner uses their hands to channel healing energy into the recipient.

  2. This can be done through light touch or with hands held slightly above the body.

  3. The recipient usually lies fully clothed on a massage table in a quiet, relaxed setting.

  4. The practitioner focuses on various energy centers (similar to chakras) or areas of discomfort.

The process is intended to:

  • Restore balance to the energy system.

  • Promote relaxation and stress relief.

  • Support the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

What Does Science Say?

There is limited scientific evidence supporting Reiki’s efficacy beyond the placebo effect. However, many people report:

  • A sense of deep relaxation

  • Pain relief

  • Emotional release or clarity

From a medical standpoint, Reiki is generally considered safe and is sometimes offered alongside conventional treatments in hospitals and hospices, especially for stress and pain management.

In Summary:

  • Reiki is a non-invasive, holistic healing practice.

  • It aims to balance the body’s life energy.

  • While not scientifically proven, many find it helpful for relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional well-being.
